Behind a great game by Jon Booras, who had two goals and three assists, the Bloomington Blaze defeated the Wichita Thunder, 6-4.

Booras scored at 7:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 3:40 into the second to make the score 3-3.

Wichita was unable to stop Bloomington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blaze eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Bloomington was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 21 penalty minutes. The Blaze's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring two goals and taking 16 shots.

Bloomington also got points from Matthew Larke, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Nicolas Rioux also scored for Bloomington. More assists for Bloomington came via Nicklas Lindberg, who had two and Travis Granbois, Kyle Bochek, Michael Trebish, and Pier-Olivier Pelletier, who contributed one a piece.

The Thunder were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. Wichita surpassed its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. By firing 46 shots on goal, the Thunder exceeded the 38.2 shots they average per game this year.

Wichita was led by Kevin Young, who finished with one goal and two assists. Young scored 45 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita. Gregor Hanson assisted on the tally. Wichita additionally got points from Chad Painchaud, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Wichita also got a goal from Ian Lowe as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita were David Inman, RG Flath, and Jarred Mohr, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington's Pelletier stopped 42 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Blaze registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Torrie Jung rejected 25 shots on goal for the Thunder. Wichita registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Thunder ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Aaron Boogaard was ejected from the game.
