Lucan holds on for 5-4 win against Thamesford

The Lucan Irish survived a determined comeback attempt by the Thamesford Trojans on the way to a 5-4 win.

Lucan took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Thamesford storm back on a Mitch Davies goal 9:23 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Colin Hartwick had one goal and two assists to lead the Irish. Hartwick scored 14:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lucan. Mitch Morin provided the assist.

The Trojans were unable to stop Lucan from sending pucks towards the net, and the Irish eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Lucan managed to hold Thamesford's power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. The Irish could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lucan also got points from Mitch Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. Lucan also got a goal from Colin Nancekivell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lucan were Dylan Symons and Cam Bond, who contributed one a piece.

The Trojans struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for 12 opposing power plays.

Thamesford was led by Andrew McLennan, who tallied two goals and one assist. McLennan scored the first of his two goals at 16:43 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lucan. Kyle Walker picked up the assist. McLennan's next tally made the score 4-4 with 3:09 left in the third period. Walker provided the assist. Thamesford additionally got points from Stavros Mandrapilias, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Thamesford came via Alex Clemens, who had three.

Dylan Hoover rejected 23 shots on goal for Lucan. The Trojans' James Champagne stopped 30 shots out of the 35 that he faced.
