Early goals doom Norfolk, falls to Wellesley, 6-0

The Norfolk Rebels fell behind early, and the Wellesley Applejacks kept piling on the points on the way to a 6-0 victory.

Wellesley was boosted by Josh Heer, who turned in a shutout with 41 saves. Heer managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.31 prior to the game.

Devon Wagner was all over the ice for the Applejacks, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Wagner scored at 2:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley and again while 16:40 into the third to make the score 6-0 Wellesley.

Wellesley made Rebels' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 48 shots and forcing 42 saves. Jason Miller made 23 stops and Alex Tipping made 19.

Wellesley additionally got points from Troy Williams, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Wellesley also got a goal from Derek Lebold as well. More assists for Wellesley came via Steve Tait, who had three and Taylor Doering, Shawn Fitzpatrick, Reid Denstedt, Jake Steenson, Cody Tapsell, and Corey Way, who contributed one a piece.

Norfolk forced the Applejacks goalie Heer to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Wellesley incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Rebels incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Norfolk ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Patenaude was ejected from the game.
