Lambeth beats Port Stanley 4-2 after comeback scare

The Port Stanley Sailors tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Lambeth Lancers held on for a 4-2 victory.

A goal by Mitch Furlonger put Lambeth up 4-1 in the third period, but Port Stanley pulled to within two on Andrew Yurek's tally 19:48 into the third period.

Furlonger had two goals to lead the Lancers to victory.

The Sailors were unable to stop Lambeth from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lancers eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Lambeth could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lambeth additionally got points from Tanner Smith, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Justin Clark, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Lambeth came via Carter Allen and Conor Chilvers, who each chipped in one.

Port Stanley could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Sailors average 4.2 goals per game. Port Stanley kept the Lancers' goalie busy throughout the game, and JP Trudell made 31 saves on 33 shots. The Sailors' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Port Stanley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Port Stanley also got a goal from Derek Finlay as well. In addition, Port Stanley received assists from Josh Tremblay, Tyler Beaulieu, and Findley Brandon, who contributed one a piece.

Lambeth registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Sailors' Brandon Garner stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Port Stanley registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
