Parent stymies Essex, Kingsville wins 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Lane Parent helped the Kingsville Comets defeat the Essex 73s, 3-1.

Kingsville was paced by Tyler Kirby, who finished with one goal. Kirby scored 2:09 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kingsville. Justin Parker picked up the assist.

Kingsville also got points from Parker, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kingsville also got a goal from Mark Sobocan as well. More assists for Kingsville came via Peter Ducharme and Colin Hamilton, who each chipped in one.

Essex stifled the Comets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 73s' offense operated below they season average. Essex averages 5.1 goals per game. The 73s kept Kingsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Parent made 36 saves on 37 shots.

Essex was led by Colin Moore, who scored the team's only goal. Moore scored on the power play 2:56 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Essex. The 73s had gotten the advantage when the Comets' Steven Spada was sent off for charging. Kevin Boggs provided the assist.

Kingsville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Arren Romeril recorded 22 saves for Essex. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
