Belle River beats Dresden 4-0 as Cowell gains shutout

Brandon Cowell made 34 saves to complete the shutout and led the Belle River Canadiens to a 4-0 win against the Dresden Kings.
Mark Manchurek had a great game for Belle River, netting two goals. Manchurek found the back of the net 10:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Belle River and again while 7:05 into the second to make the score 3-0 Belle River.
The Canadiens put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dresden to score on any of its three power plays. Belle River's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Kings. The Canadiens gives up 2.7 goals on average per game. Belle River kept Dresden's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kaylobe Derynck made 31 saves on 35 shots.
Belle River also got a goal from Guy Levesque as well. In addition, Belle River received assists from Jordan Luciw, who had two and Matthew Couloufis, Connor Goodchild, Jordan Taylor, Branden Larocque, Donnovan Plummer, and Jess Magerison, who each chipped in one.
The Kings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Dresden averages 3.4 goals per game. The Kings' offense rang up 34 shots on the Canadiens' net.
Belle River incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dresden incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
