Quick's big game bests Blenheim in 7-3 Wheatley win

Kyle Quick had two goals and two assists to lead the Wheatley Sharks to a 7-3 victory over the Blenheim Blades.

Quick scored at 1:46 into the third period to make the score 4-0 Wheatley and again while 19:51 into the third to make the score 7-3 Wheatley.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:25 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Wheatley's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Blenheim power plays. The Sharks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Wheatley averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Wheatley additionally got points from Riley Babkirk, who also registered one goal and two assists. Brett Bowman also scored for Wheatley. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Eric Rivard, who had two and Kurtis Ouellette, Brett Babkirk, Kevin Sawatzky, Brian Johnson, Dan Matoski, and Jon Woelk, who contributed one a piece.

Blenheim was helped by Trevor Sparks, who finished with one goal. Blenheim also got a goal from Zach Mailloux as well. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Zack Horvath, who had two and Jordan Durston, Matt Speed, Mackenzie Dick, and Tyler Oglan, who each chipped in one.

Marc Tremblay rejected 20 shots on goal for the Sharks. Wheatley totaled 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Zach Wilson and Luke Gagnon were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Blades' starting goalie, Dylan Vanderpol, made 17 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Justin Pratt, who stopped six shots. Blenheim ended with 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors. For the Blades, Jake ONeil and Aaron Pastorius were ejected from the contest.
