Essex beats Wallaceburg 10-0 as McIntyre gets hat trick

Daniel McIntyre netted a hat trick to lead the Essex 73s over the Wallaceburg Lakers, 10-0.

McIntyre's first goal came 4:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:40 into the first and at 13:12 into the second.

Essex scored early and often, and held a 5-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The 73s forced Wallaceburg's goaltenders to work in net, launching 56 shots and forcing 46 saves. Devine Cove made eight stops and Joel Sowinski made 38. Essex's defensive effort looked to be improved. The 73s gives up 2.3 goals on average per game. Essex outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the 73s average 5.3 goals per contest.

Essex also got points from Marco Canzoneri, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Jordan Ryan, who also had one goal and one assist, Colin Moore, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Colin DeLaet, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Daniel Slipchuck, who also registered one goal and three assists. Scott Bromley also scored for Essex. More assists for Essex came via Tyler Raymont, who had two, Blaise Baillargeon, who had three, and Adam Dunmore, Matthew Hebert, and Aaron Thibert, who each chipped in one.

The Lakers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Wallaceburg puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game.

Arren Romeril made 15 saves for Essex on 15 shots. The 73s incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Lakers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
