Clarke leads Blenheim over Alvinston, 9-4

Tyler Clarke was all over the ice for the Blenheim Blades, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Blenheim's 9-4 win over the Alvinston Flyers.

Clarke found the back of the net on the power play 4:29 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Blenheim and again while on the power play 10:33 into the third to make the score 8-3 Blenheim.

Alvinston's seven penalties came back to haunt it, as the Flyers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Blades made Alvinston's netminders to work between the pipes, firing 56 shots and forcing 47 saves. James Morreau made 37 stops and Brad Jacklin made 10. Blenheim excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Blades outdid their season average for goals scored. Blenheim has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Blenheim additionally got points from Zach Mailloux, who also had one goal and three assists, Cam Aitken, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Justin Rossignol, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Blenheim included Ryan Frizzell, who had two and Zack Horvath and Jarrod Oliphant, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Bowe Shepley, who had two, Taylor Phillips, who had three, and Jake ONeil, Owen Bateman, Trevor Sparks, Matt Speed, Mackenzie Dick, and Aaron Pastorius, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers' offense rang up 37 shots on the Blades' net.

Alvinston was helped by Chad Vaneyk, who registered one goal and one assist. Vaneyk scored 6:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alvinston. Joe Archer provided the assist. Alvinston also got points from Tyler Kettler, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Karsten Berg also scored for Alvinston. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Josh Moore, who had one.

Blenheim's Dylan Vanderpol stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Blades incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Blenheim, Shawn Hope was ejected from the game. The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Alvinston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dan Warner was ejected from the game.
