Haskell lifts Belle River over Mooretown, 4-1

The Belle River Canadiens relied on the scoring touch of Derek Haskell, who netted two goals, to beat the Mooretown Flags, 4-1.

Haskell found the back of the net on the power play 19:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Belle River and again while 2:57 into the third to make the score 3-1 Belle River.

Belle River was led by goalie Zakk Olvin, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Olvin certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.47 entering the contest.

The Canadiens forced Mooretown goalie Brandon Johnson to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Belle River additionally got points from Billy Eansor, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Belle River also got a goal from James Shelton as well. In addition, Belle River received assists from Mark Manchurek, who had three and Branden Larocque, Richard Dunning, and Jordan Luciw, who each chipped in one.

The Flags did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Mooretown puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Flags' offense rang up 32 shots on Belle River's net.

Mooretown was led by Andrew Sokol, who scored the team's only goal. Sokol scored 2:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Belle River. Riley Roberts picked up the assist.

The Canadiens incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Johnson rejected 30 shots on goal for the Flags. Mooretown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
