Mooretown blows out Dresden, 5-2Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Dec 15, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mooretown Flags had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Dresden Kings. Dan Lumley was all over the ice for Mooretown, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Lumley scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. The Flags had gotten the advantage when Dresden's Johnathan Derynck was sent off for roughing after whistle. Jeff Schroeter provided the assist. Lumley's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Mooretown with 22 seconds left in the third period. Mike Burns assisted on the tally. Mooretown racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The Flags surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Mooretown stifled the Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flags' offense rang up 37 shots on Dresden's net. Mooretown also got points from Schroeter, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Mooretown also got a goal from Jordan McBeath as well. More assists for Mooretown came via Jordan Orth, Riley Roberts, Calab Harse, and Frankie White, who contributed one a piece. The the Kings penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and three majors for 41 minutes in penalty time. Dresden had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Kings forced Mooretown goalie Brandon Johnson to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Dresden was helped by Jesse Allen, who tallied one goal. Allen scored 4:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Mike Myers picked up the assist. Josh Beatty also scored for Dresden. In addition, Dresden received assists from John Montgomery, who had one. Johnson rejected 31 shots on goal for the Flags. Mooretown registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For the Flags, Dan Hachey and Harse were ejected from the contest. Brent Paxton recorded 32 saves for the Kings. Dresden registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Derynck, Dylan Mertz, and Macks Holmes were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
