The Belle River Canadiens beat the Mooretown Flags, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Belle River took over the lead for good with a goal by Jason Clarke at 10:18 in the first period. Tyler Turner assisted on the tally.

Mooretown was stymied by the Canadiens netminder Zakk Olvin, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. The solid play of Olvin will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.29.

Belle River was led by James Shelton, who tallied one goal. Shelton scored 17:43 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Belle River. Andrew Synnott provided the assist.

The Canadiens' offense rang up 37 shots on the Flags' net.

Chris DiNatale also scored for Belle River. More assists for Belle River came via Mike Ditty and Jordan Luciw, who each chipped in one.

Mooretown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Belle River power plays. The Flags' offense operated below they season average. Mooretown puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

The Flags were led by Travis Mullen, who scored the team's only goal. Mullen scored 18:30 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Belle River. McGregor Haddon assisted on the tally.

Belle River incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Johnson made 34 saves for Mooretown on 36 shots. The Flags incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
