Essex Centre Sports Complex    Tue, Nov 27, 2012

A hat trick by Jordan Ryan was the highlight in 73s' 9-0 win against the Dresden Kings.

Ryan got on the scoresheet 8:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:57 into the third and at 19:47 into the third.

The Essex 73s put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dresden to score on any of its four power plays. Essex's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Kings. The 73s allow 2.2 goals per game. Dresden was unable to stop Essex from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Essex found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The 73s average 5.0 goals per game.

Essex additionally got points from Corey Beaulieu, who also registered two goals and one assist, Jordan Brohman, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Colin DeLaet, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Dylan Solecki, who also had one goal and two assists, and Daniel McIntyre, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Chad Hedrick, who had two and Arren Romeril, Aaron Thibert, Colin Moore, and Curtis Prymack, who contributed one a piece.

The Kings forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. Dresden had been averaging 28.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Kings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Dresden puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. The Kings' penalty kill unit could not stop Essex's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

The 73s' Romeril stopped 23 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Essex ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the 73s, Marco Canzoneri was ejected from the game. Brent Paxton made 30 saves for Dresden on 39 shots. Team's Dylan Mertz and Derek VanEvery were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
