Blenheim vanquishes Wallaceburg in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Blenheim Blades defeated the Wallaceburg Lakers in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Blenheim's offense rang up 45 shots on Wallaceburg's net.

The Blades were helped by Zack Horvath, who tallied one goal. Horvath scored 7:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Blenheim. Kirk McKillop provided the assist. Zach Mailloux also scored for Blenheim. More assists for Blenheim came via Jarrod Oliphant, Aidan Wiebenga, Trevor Sparks, and Matt Fleury, who each chipped in one.

The Lakers were helped by Sam Jasmin, who finished with one goal. Jasmin scored short handed 17:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Blenheim. Wallaceburg was on a disadvantage when Trevor Williams went off the ice for slashing. Jeff Nolfo assisted on the tally. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Barry Braun as well. In addition, Wallaceburg received assists from Lucais Meyskens and Scott Lubbers, who contributed one a piece.

Dylan Vanderpol rejected 27 shots on goal for Blenheim. The Blades incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Joel Sowinski recorded 41 saves for the Lakers. Wallaceburg incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
