Essex rips Wallaceburg, 6-2

The Essex 73s were firing on all cylinders against the Wallaceburg Lakers, and when the final buzzer sounded 73s emerged with a 6-2 win.

Essex got the win on the strength of a great game by Jordan Ryan, who had two goals and one assist. Ryan scored the first of his two goals at 4:20 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Essex. Kevin Boggs picked up the assist. Ryan's next tally made the score 6-2 Essex with 3:21 left in the third period.

The 73s pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Essex's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Wallaceburg power plays. The 73s kept Wallaceburg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Devine Cove made 34 saves on 40 shots.

Essex also got points from Alex Garon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Curtis Prymack, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Dylan Solecki also scored for Essex. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Blaise Baillargeon, Corey Beaulieu, Jordan Brohman, and Aaron Thibert, who contributed one a piece.

The Lakers stifled Essex's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Wallaceburg was helped by Sam Jasmin, who grabbed one goal. Jasmin scored 1:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Essex. Jake Carter assisted on the tally. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Jeff Nolfo as well. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Kyle Jacobson and Justin Whitson, who each chipped in one.

Arren Romeril made 24 saves for the 73s on 26 shots. Essex registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. The Lakers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
