Beaulieu leads Essex over Kingsville, 8-3

The Essex 73s' Corey Beaulieu had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 8-3 win over the Kingsville Comets.

Beaulieu scored at 1:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Essex and again while 9:44 into the third to make the score 8-2 Essex.

Kingsville's power play was ineffective against Essex's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Essex kept the Comets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Andrian made 41 saves on 49 shots. The 73s outdid their season average for goals scored. Essex averages 4.0 goals per game.

Essex additionally got points from Jordan Brohman, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Alex Garon, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Dylan Solecki, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Curtis Prymack also scored for Essex. More assists for Essex came via Blaise Baillargeon, Tyler Raymont, Aaron Thibert, and Chad Hedrick, who each chipped in one and Kevin Boggs and Adam Dunmore, who contributed two a piece.

Kingsville was helped by Tyler Kirby, who finished with one goal. Kirby scored short handed 2:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Essex. The Comets found themselves down a man on Kyle Morand's tripping. Kingsville also got a goal from Brett Benson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kingsville were Steven Spada and Eric Benson, who each chipped in one.

Trevor Wheaton made 17 saves for the 73s on 20 shots. Essex totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The 73s ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zack Miletic was ejected from the game. Kingsville ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Comets, Benson was ejected from the game.
