Belle River falls to Blenheim after surprising comeback

The Belle River Canadiens could not hold down the Blenheim Blades, and Blades erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win.

Blenheim never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Blades was down 3-1 after a goal by Belle River's Brenden Crundwell at 13:02 in the second period. Blenheim knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Kurt Beecroft at 15:44 in the third period. The Blades got the game winner at 18:52 in the third period on a goal by Oliphant.

 

Blenheim was led by Zack Horvath, who finished with one goal and one assist.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Blenheim additionally got points from Aaron Pastorius, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Blenheim also got a goal from Tyler Clarke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Bowe Shepley, Justin Rossignol, and Trevor Sparks, who each chipped in one.

The Canadiens were held below their usual level of production. Belle River averages 6.0 goals per game. The Canadiens kept Blenheim's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dylan Vanderpol made 29 saves on 32 shots. Belle River could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Branden Larocque also scored for Belle River. In addition, Belle River received assists from Andrew Synnott, Mike Ditty, Derek Haskell, Weston Gaul, Chris DiNatale, and Mark Manchurek, who contributed one a piece.

The Blades incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brandon Cowell made 17 saves for the Canadiens on 21 shots.
