Space Coast Hurricanes uses big games from Villarreal and Rogers to down Tampa Juniors, 6-3

Behind two goals and one assist from Crissostomos Villarreal and one goal and two assists from Griffin Rogers, Space Coast Hurricanes downed Tampa Juniors 6-3.

Villarreal scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:57 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Space Coast Hurricanes. Space Coast Hurricanes had taken the advantage when Tampa Juniors' Logan Garst got sent off for high sticking. Garrett Gunski picked up the assist. Villarreal's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Space Coast Hurricanes with eight seconds left in the third period. Jack Musil assisted on the tally. Rogers scored 10:48 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Clay Plyler picked up the assist.

Tampa Juniors was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Space Coast Hurricanes was able to score four times while on the power play.

Space Coast Hurricanes forced Tampa Juniors goalie Nicholas Malvin to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Space Coast Hurricanes outdid its season average for goals scored. Space Coast Hurricanes averages 3.2 goals per game.

Space Coast Hurricanes additionally got points from Rogers, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Plyler, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Space Coast Hurricanes also got a goal from Keegan Finn as well. In addition, Space Coast Hurricanes received assists from Brian Hurley, who had one and Jamie Chilcott, who had two.

Tampa Juniors' offense rang up 37 shots on Space Coast Hurricanes' net. Tampa Juniors could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Tampa Juniors was led by Paul Lochner, who racked up two goals. Lochner scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tampa Juniors. Tampa Juniors had gotten the advantage when Space Coast Hurricanes' Scotty Tam was sent off for slashing. Tommy Whiteley provided the assist. Lochner's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Space Coast Hurricanes with 1:36 left in the third period. Tampa Juniors had gained a power play chance when Tam was whistled for interference. Thomas Miller picked up the assist. David Cross also scored for Tampa Juniors.

Parker Bonis rejected 34 shots on goal for Space Coast Hurricanes. Space Coast Hurricanes incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Tampa Juniors' Malvin stopped 32 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Tampa Juniors registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. For Tampa Juniors, Whiteley was ejected from the game.
