Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Lakefield Chiefs defeated the Port Perry Mojacks in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO). The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout. Port Perry got a shootout goal from Conner Shingler. Lakefield's other shootout goal was scored by Derek Manley.The Chiefs came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Lakefield fell behind 3-1 after a goal by the Mojacks' Logan Evans at 5:31 in the second period. The Chiefs knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Kyler Challis at 17:21 in the third period. Lakefield was sparked by Manley, who registered one goal and one assist. Manley scored 14:06 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Port Perry. Jordan Walsh picked up the assist. The Chiefs forced Port Perry goalie Jeff Julien to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Gregory Jesse also scored for Lakefield. More assists for Lakefield came via Tyler Roy, who had two and Matt Perras and Eric Shewell, who each chipped in one. The Mojacks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Port Perry was helped by Brodie Meyers, who tallied two goals. Meyers scored the first of his two goals at 19:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Meyers' next tally made the score 2-1 Port Perry with 15:42 left in the second period. Lee Taylor provided the assist. Port Perry also got points from Evans, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Kyle Schweda, who had one and Brody Anderson, who had two. Dustin Cook made 20 saves for Lakefield on 24 shots. The Chiefs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Julien rejected 34 shots on goal for the Mojacks. Port Perry incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
