Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Little Britain Merchants defeated the Clarington Eagles in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.Little Britain came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Merchants was down 3-2 after a power play goal by Clarington's Graham Snoek at 11:10 in the third period. Little Britain knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Kurtis Moore at 11:34 in the third period. The Merchants' penalty kill excelled, as Little Britain gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. The Merchants kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony DUrso made 34 saves on 38 shots. Little Britain was helped by Cash Cormier, who registered one goal. Cormier scored short handed 1:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Merchants played down a man on Mitch Thurston's high sticking. Nate Huhges assisted on the tally. Jesse Beers also scored for Little Britain. More assists for Little Britain came via Mitch Berzins and Rory McDowell, who each chipped in one. Clarington forced Little Britain goalie Neil Pittock to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Eagles were helped by Greg St. James, who grabbed one goal. St. James scored 4:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. Thomas Garrity provided the assist. Clarington also got a goal from Dan Michel as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Brett Brown, who had two and Mitchell Marchbank, Luke Garneau, and Brad Down, who contributed one a piece. Pittock rejected 38 shots on goal for the Merchants. Little Britain incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Clarington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
