Port Perry survives Uxbridge comeback, wins 4-2Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Jan 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Uxbridge Bruins tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Port Perry Mojacks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. A goal by Matt Murray put Port Perry up 4-1 in the third period, but Uxbridge pulled to within two on Justin Bean's tally 16:40 into the third period. The Mojacks were led by Matt Johnston, who registered one goal. Johnston scored 4:40 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Port Perry. Lucas Berkers picked up the assist. Port Perry forced the Bruins goalie Brandon Francey to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Port Perry also got points from Murray, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Perry also got a goal from Conner Shingler as well. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Brodie Meyers, who had two and Logan Evans and Aeric Annetts, who contributed one a piece. Uxbridge kept the Mojacks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Drew Siydock made 29 saves on 31 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Callum Lynch also scored for Uxbridge. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Michael Spataro, Andrew Liboiron, Steve Doutsis, and Jarett Smith, who each chipped in one. Port Perry incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Francey recorded 30 saves for the Bruins. Uxbridge incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
