The Clarington Eagles beat the Uxbridge Bruins, 5-2. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:44 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Clarington stifled Uxbridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Eagles' offense rang up 32 shots on the Bruins' net. Clarington was led by Brock Ackerman, who tallied one goal and two assists. Ackerman scored 12:32 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Clarington. Graham Snoek picked up the assist. Clarington also got a goal from Courtland Black-Araujo as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Jake Choiniere, Dylan Howorko, and Brad Down, who each chipped in one. Uxbridge put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Eagles to score on any of their five power plays. The Bruins were held below their usual level of production. Uxbridge averages 4.2 goals per game. The Bruins' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Uxbridge averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Bruins were helped by Steve Doutsis, who registered two goals. Doutsis scored the first of his two goals at 2:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Clarington. Patrick Morgan assisted on the tally. Doutsis' next tally made the score 2-2 with 13:36 left in the third period. Morgan picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Callum Lynch and Keegan Cairns, who contributed one a piece. Anthony DUrso made 21 saves for Clarington on 23 shots. The Eagles ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Clarington, Brandon Hesson was ejected from the game. Brandon Francey rejected 27 shots on goal for Uxbridge. The Bruins totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. Uxbridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Shane Smith was ejected from the game.
