Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Lakefield Chiefs defeated the Clarington Eagles in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.Lakefield came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Chiefs was down 2-1 after a goal by Clarington's Brad Down at 7:20 in the second period. Lakefield knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Tyler Roy at 10:29 in the third period. Roy was all over the ice for the Chiefs, as he racked up two goals in the win. Lakefield put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Eagles to score on any of their four power plays. The Chiefs kept Clarington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Green made 30 saves on 33 shots. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Ryan Anderson, Keenan Runnalis, and Stephen Woodbeck, who contributed one a piece. Clarington also got a goal from Cody Kean as well. More assists for Clarington came via Graham Snoek, Brock Ackerman, Blane Gaudon, and Rory Craddock, who each chipped in one. Lakefield's Zach Wainman stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Chiefs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Lakefield, Gregory Jesse was ejected from the game. The Eagles incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
