Lakefield beats Georgina 7-0 as Wainman gains shutout

Zach Wainman recorded a shutout against the Georgina Ice as the Lakefield Chiefs picked up a 7-0 win.

Derek Manley was all over the ice for Lakefield, as he tallied two goals in the win. Manley scored at 10:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield and again while 2:13 into the third to make the score 6-0 Lakefield.

The Chiefs made Ice's goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 43 shots and forcing 36 saves. Michael Chilvers made 24 stops and Sean Moffatt (APM) made 12. Lakefield was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Chiefs allow 2.5 goals per game. Lakefield found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Chiefs average 4.8 goals per game.

Lakefield also got points from Curtis Bolton, who also registered one goal and one assist, Matt Perras, who also had one goal and one assist, Ryan Saunders, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Nathan Larson, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Travis Brault, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Ryan Anderson, who had two and Gregory Jesse, Jordan Walsh, Eric Shewell, Eric Oosting, and Connor Blair, who contributed one a piece.

Georgina's offense operated below it season average. The Ice put an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game.

Wainman rejected 30 shots on goal for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Georgina incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
