Lakefield blows out Clarington, 3-0

The Clarington Eagles had trouble finding ways to stop the Lakefield Chiefs, which beat Eagles, 3-0.

Lakefield was led by Travis Brault, who registered one goal and one assist. Brault scored short handed 11:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. The Chiefs were on a disadvantage when Eric Shewell went off the ice for cross checking.

Lakefield put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Clarington to score on any of its three power plays. The Chiefs was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Lakefield gives up 2.8 goals on average per game. The Eagles were unable to stop the Chiefs from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakefield eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Connor Blair also scored for Lakefield. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Eric Oosting, who had one.

Clarington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Lakefield power plays. The Eagles could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Clarington puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game.

Zach Wainman rejected 20 shots on goal for the Chiefs. Lakefield incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Eagles' Keaton Dillon stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Clarington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
