Port Perry uses shootout to best Little Britain, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Perry Mojacks defeated the Little Britain Merchants in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Little Britain got a shootout goal from Tyler Trafford. In addition to the clincher, Port Perry got a shootout goal from Matt Johnston.

In the losing effort, the Merchants were paced by Scott Mcguire, who grabbed two goals. Mcguire scored the first of his two goals at 3:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Little Britain. Zach Boice provided the assist. Mcguire's next tally made the score 3-2 Port Perry with 5:52 left in the second period. Little Britain earned a power play opportunity when Lucas Berkers was put in the box for tripping. Kurtis Moore assisted on the tally.

The Mojacks were led by Matt Murray, who finished with one goal and one assist. Murray scored on the power play 3:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. Port Perry had taken the advantage when the Merchants' New Player got sent off for slashing. Johnston picked up the assist.

Little Britain was unable to stop the Mojacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Perry eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Mojacks were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of nine man advantages. Port Perry's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Joe Lamanna also scored for Port Perry.

Little Britain also got points from Boice, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Little Britain also got a goal from Mitch Berzins as well. More assists for Little Britain came via Trafford and Mark Vasey, who contributed one a piece.

Drew Siydock recorded 22 saves for the Mojacks. Port Perry incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Mojacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Logan Evans was ejected from the game. The Merchants' Garrett Haden stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Little Britain incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Merchants, Mcguire was ejected from the game.
