Lakefield downs Port Perry, 6-2Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Oct 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Travis Brault tallied two points to lead the Lakefield Chiefs to a 6-2 victory over the Port Perry Mojacks. Lakefield made Mojacks' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 33 shots and forcing 27 saves. Jeff Julien made three stops and Drew Siydock made 24. The Chiefs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Lakefield additionally got points from Curtis Bolton, who also had one goal and one assist, Nathan Larson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jordan Walsh, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Eric Shewell, who also registered one goal and one assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Ryan Saunders as well. More assists for Lakefield came via Eric Oosting, who had two, Derek Manley, who had three, and Hayden Lambe and Connor Blair, who each chipped in one. Port Perry was led by Matt Paul, who finished with one goal. Paul scored 12:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyler Challis assisted on the tally. Ryan Nichols also scored for Port Perry. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Conner Shingler, Matt Murray, and Matt Johnston, who contributed one a piece. Dustin Cook rejected 24 shots on goal for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Mojacks incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Port Perry ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Paul was ejected from the game.
