Georgina stifles Lakefield's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Georgina Ice, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Georgina and clinched a 4-2 victory.

The Ice led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Georgina's Mark McKey's scored at 3:32 in the second period to put the Ice up 3-0.

Georgina pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 31 penalty minutes.

The Ice stifled the Lakefield Chiefs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Georgina was led by Curtis Puhalski, who tallied one goal and one assist. Puhalski scored 16:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Georgina. Scott Sandercock provided the assist. Georgina also got a goal from Dylan Kovacs as well. In addition, Georgina received assists from Mitch Mallany, Devon Smith, JD Leblond, Tanner Allen, Tyler Berryman, and Luke Vanderkooy, who contributed one a piece.

Lakefield's power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on 11 chances.

The Chiefs were helped by Derek Manley, who finished with one goal. Manley scored 13:42 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Georgina. Matt Perras picked up the assist. Eric Oosting also scored for Lakefield. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Riley Campbell and Travis Brault, who each chipped in one.

The Ice registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Lakefield incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
