Hambly's hat trick boosts Clarington over Port Perry, 5-3Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Sep 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Perry Mojacks could not stop the Clarington Eagles' Brent Hambly, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-3 win. Hambly notched his first tally 9:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:35 into the first and at 13:34 into the third.Clarington also got a goal from Cody Kean as well. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Craig Crowther, who had three and Brett Brown, Collin McGillis, and Dan Michel, who contributed one a piece. Clarington was unable to stop Port Perry from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mojacks eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Port Perry could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 35 minutes in penalties during the game. The Mojacks were led by Anders Neilsen, who tallied one goal and two assists. Neilsen scored on the power play 4:26 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Clarington. Port Perry had taken the advantage when the Eagles' Mike Grifoni got sent off for interference. Matt Paul picked up the assist. Port Perry additionally got points from Matt Johnston, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Paul, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Port Perry came via Kyler Challis, who had one. Keaton Dillon rejected 28 shots on goal for Clarington. The Eagles totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 3-for-13 on the power play. Team's Carter Vahey and Greg St. James were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Drew Siydock recorded 21 saves for the Mojacks. Port Perry registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Mojacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kirk Bricknell was ejected from the game.
