Elmira rips Kitchener, 5-1Dan Snyder Memorial Sun, Feb 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Elmira Sugar Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Kitchener Dutchmen, and when the final buzzer sounded Sugar Kings emerged with a 5-1 win. Brady Campbell had a great game for Elmira, netting two goals. Campbell found the back of the net 3:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Elmira and again while 3:56 into the third to make the score 4-0 Elmira. Kitchener was stymied by the Sugar Kings netminder Hayden Neuman, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Neuman managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.46 prior to the game. Elmira made Dutchmen's goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots and forcing 44 saves. Marc Williams made 27 stops and Mike Black (APM) made 17. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Craig Johnson also scored for Elmira. In addition, Elmira received assists from Jake Weidner, who had two and Connor MacIvor, Pat McKelvie(APJ), Cass Frey, Zac Coulter, Mitch Wright, and Matt Harding, who each chipped in one. The Dutchmen stifled the Sugar Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kitchener's offense operated below it season average. The Dutchmen average 3.4 goals per game. Kitchener's offense rang up 31 shots on Elmira's net. The Sugar Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Dutchmen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Kitchener, Philip Moser was ejected from the game. |
