Waterloo blows out Stratford, 8-3Waterloo Rec Complex Sun, Feb 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Waterloo Siskins were firing on all cylinders against the Stratford Cullitons, and when the final buzzer sounded Siskins emerged with an 8-3 win. Jacob Bonin had two goals to lead Waterloo to victory. Bonin found the back of the net 1:09 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Waterloo and again while 4:02 into the second to make the score 4-1 Waterloo. Stratford fell victim to a deadly the Siskins power play, which ripped the Cullitons for four goals. Waterloo made Stratford's goaltenders to work all game long, firing 34 shots and forcing 26 saves. Michael Pesendorfer made 10 stops and Nick Caldwell made 16. The Siskins bested their season scoring average. This season, Waterloo averages 4.1 goals per contest. Waterloo also got points from Trevor Atkinson APJ, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Matthew Mah, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Adam Campagnolo, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Ryan Doucette, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Christian Mroczkowski, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. James Soper also scored for Waterloo. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Stephen Comegna, who had two and Brandon Jones, Evan Buehler, and Danny Hanlon, who each chipped in one. The Cullitons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game. Stratford was helped by Andrew Barton, who tallied one goal and one assist. Barton scored on the power play 45 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo. Liam Maaskant provided the assist. Stratford also got a goal from Jake Ryan as well. More assists for Stratford came via Jonathan Langford and Jordan Currie, who contributed one a piece. The Siskins' Darren Huck stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Waterloo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Cullitons registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
