GAME RECAP

LaSalle survives Leamington comeback, wins 4-2

Vollmer Recreation Complex    Wed, Feb 20, 2013

The Leamington Flyers tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the LaSalle Vipers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

LaSalle took a 4-0 lead during the second period, only to have Leamington storm back on a Tony Spidalieri goal 12:21 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Eric Noel had two goals and two assists to lead the Vipers. Noel scored the first of his two goals short handed at 5:31 into the second period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle. LaSalle played down a man on Brad Carroll's tripping. Korey Morgan provided the assist. Noel's next tally short handed made the score 3-0 LaSalle with 10:00 left in the second period. The Vipers had taken the advantage when the Flyers' Spidalieri got sent off for slashing. Morgan picked up the assist.

LaSalle put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Leamington to score on any of its four power plays.

LaSalle also got points from Morgan, who also racked up one goal and three assists and Scott Prier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for LaSalle came via Richard Villani and Graeme Brown, who each chipped in one.

The Vipers were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Leamington eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

David Dalby also scored for Leamington. In addition, Leamington received assists from Jacob McGhee, Alex Seguin, and Nathan Opblinger, who contributed one a piece.

LaSalle's Taylor Speed stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Vipers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Austyn Roudebush made 25 saves for the Flyers on 29 shots. Leamington incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
