The Waterloo Siskins tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Cambridge Winter Hawks held on for a 3-2 victory. Cambridge took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have Waterloo storm back on a Matt Cruickshank goal 16:44 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Winter Hawks kept the Siskins' goalie busy throughout the game, and PJ Bridges made 30 saves on 33 shots. Cambridge was led by Chris Taylor, who registered one goal and one assist. Taylor scored on the power play 13:33 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cambridge. A high sticking penalty on Nik Knezic had put the Winter Hawks on the power play. Todd Bannermon provided the assist. Cody Gratton also scored for Cambridge. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Christian Barnard, Mitch Facey, Maxime Lamontagne, and Trevor Hache, who each chipped in one. Waterloo was often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Siskins surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Waterloo was held below its usual level of production. The Siskins put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. Waterloo forced Cambridge goalie Jordan Lee to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Siskins were helped by Ryan Doucette, who finished with one goal. Doucette scored on the power play 16:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cambridge. Waterloo had gotten the advantage when the Winter Hawks' Anthony Guido was sent off for cross checking. Adam Campagnolo assisted on the tally. More assists for Waterloo came via Jakub Jelen, who had one. Cambridge's Lee stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Winter Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Siskins registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Waterloo, Eric Cimino and Stephen Witiuk were ejected from the contest.
