Sleeman Centre    Sat, Feb 16, 2013

Brandon Montour had one goal and two assists to lead the Caledonia Corvairs to a 4-1 victory over the Guelph Hurricanes.

Montour got on the board by slotting home a goal 13:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Adam Brady provided the assist. Montour dished an assist on Matt Quilty's goal that made the score 1-1 at 13:42 into the second period. He added another helper on Spencer Gourlay's goal that made the score 2-1 Caledonia at 7:21 into the third period.

Caledonia's penalty kill excelled, as the Corvairs gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Caledonia stifled Guelph's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hurricanes were unable to stop the Corvairs from sending pucks towards the net, and Caledonia eventually piled up 53 shots on goal. The Corvairs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes. The defensemen of Caledonia were also effective in Guelph's zone, and came away with two goals.

Caledonia also got a goal from Ryan Blunt as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Jeff Swift, who had two and Connor Murphy, Simon Blythe, and Leonard Dziemianko, who contributed one a piece.

The Hurricanes were led by Ian Chan, who scored the team's only goal. Chan scored 8:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. Ethan Morrison (AP) picked up the assist.

Marcus DelConte rejected 18 shots on goal for the Corvairs. Caledonia registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Jason DaSilva made 49 saves for Guelph on 53 shots. The Hurricanes incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
