Caledonia uses shootout to best Waterloo, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Caledonia Corvairs defeated the Waterloo Siskins in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for four attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Caledonia got a shootout goal from Adam Brady.

The Corvairs overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Caledonia was down 3-0 after a power play goal by Waterloo's Ryan Doucette at 42 seconds in the second period. The Corvairs tied things up at 3-3 on a short handed goal by Tyler Norrie at 17:30 in the third period.

The Siskins' power play was ineffective against Caledonia's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Waterloo was unable to stop the Corvairs from sending pucks towards the net, and Caledonia eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Corvairs were helped by Marc Silvestri, who had one goal. Silvestri scored 4:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Waterloo. Simon Blythe assisted on the tally. Caledonia additionally got points from Connor Murphy, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Jeff Swift, who had one and Brandon Montour, who had two.

The Siskins were led by Danny Hanlon, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Hanlon scored 12:05 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Waterloo. Stephen Comegna picked up the assist. Jakub Jelen also scored for Waterloo. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Nik Knezic, Trevor Atkinson APJ, Brandon Jones, and Adam Campagnolo, who contributed one a piece.

Justis Husak made 23 saves for Caledonia on 26 shots. The Corvairs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. PJ Bridges rejected 31 shots on goal for Waterloo. The Siskins incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
