Strathroy holds on for 3-2 win against LondonWestern Fair CC Wed, Feb 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The London Nationals tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Strathroy Rockets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Strathroy made the score 3-1 on a goal by Tyler Duarte at 1:50 in the third period, and London got as close as 3-2 when Jeff Bauer scored 2:50 into the third period. The Rockets were led by Duarte, who racked up one goal. Strathroy also got points from Shawn Grogan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Strathroy also got a goal from Kurtis Sander as well. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Luke Jackson, Chase Thornton, Max Naus, Nick Boyer, and Tyler Coleman, who each chipped in one. The Nationals were helped by Aaron Dartch, who registered one goal. Dartch scored on the power play 4:01 into the second period to make the score 1-1. London earned a power play opportunity when Dylan Wilson-Foote was put in the box for roughing. Noah Schwartz picked up the assist. More assists for London came via Ryan Tuffin and Keaton Ratcliffe, who contributed one a piece. Dalen Kuchmey rejected 22 shots on goal for Strathroy. The Rockets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Taylor Edwards recorded 24 saves for the Nationals. London incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
