Fort Erie survives Buffalo comeback, wins 4-3

The Buffalo Jr. Blades tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Fort Erie Meteors would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Fort Erie made the score 4-2 on a goal by Braeden Kavaravtzis at 13:39 in the third period, and Buffalo got as close as 4-3 when Tyler Kessler scored 18:51 into the third period.

Kavaravtzis had two goals to lead the Meteors to victory.

Fort Erie put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Blades to score on any of their five power plays. The Meteors forced Buffalo goalie Ian Shorthouse to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Fort Erie additionally got points from Andy Sturtz, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Fort Erie also got a goal from Jesse Pereira as well. More assists for Fort Erie came via Dallas Ingram, Mike Boles, Carson Johnstone, Richard DeMarco, Nik Passero, and Kyle Marino, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Blades made Fort Erie's netminders to work without much rest, taking 34 shots and forcing 31 saves. Connor Visca made 23 stops and Wyatt Pickrell made eight.

Buffalo also got points from Seth Hamilton, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Ryan Stayner, who had two and Josh Gordon and Kennedy Monaco, who each chipped in one.

The Meteors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Shorthouse recorded 34 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Buffalo, Pat Dullen APJ was ejected from the game.
