Huge game by Muir boosts Welland over Buffalo, 8-1

Brooker Muir was all over the ice for the Welland Jr. Canadians, as he tallied one goal and six assists in Welland's 8-1 win over the Buffalo Jr. Blades.

Muir beat Brandon Klein with a shot 7:45 into the third period to make the score 7-1 Welland. Ryan Migliaccio picked up the assist. Muir dished an assist on Jason Lacroix's goal that made the score 1-0 Welland at 7:29 into the first period. He then added assists on CJ Stellato's goal at 15:29 into the first, on Chris Brown's goal at 11:52 into the second, on Migliaccio's goal at 15:10 into the second, on Migliaccio's goal at 3:48 into the third, and on Brown's goal at 19:40 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:46 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Buffalo was unable to stop the Jr. Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Welland eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Jr. Canadians found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Welland has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Jr. Canadians had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

Welland additionally got points from Brown, who also had two goals and two assists, Lacroix, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Migliaccio, who also registered two goals and one assist. Josh Gervais also scored for Welland. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Derrik Vannas, who had two and Riley Brooks, Adam Barron, Gabe Ruggi, and Braden Curry, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Blades were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Buffalo had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Jr. Blades were led by Tyler Kessler, who scored the team's only goal. Kessler scored on the power play 19:39 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Welland. Buffalo had gotten the advantage when Welland's Brooks was sent off for cross checking. Tom Hanna provided the assist.

Matt Coulombe rejected 24 shots on goal for the Jr. Canadians. Welland ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Team's Aaron Beally and Chris Langdon were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Jr. Blades' Klein stopped 35 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Buffalo registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Jr. Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Stayner was ejected from the game.
