Leamington survives penalties, beats Strathroy, 5-2West Middlesex Arena Sat, Feb 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Strathroy Rockets failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Leamington Flyers shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2. Leamington was led by Alex Seguin, who tallied one goal and one assist. Seguin scored 16:10 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Leamington. Mitchell Amante picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:38 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Flyers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and four majors for 58 minutes in penalty time. Leamington had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Strathroy was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Leamington eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Leamington additionally got points from Myles Doan, who also had one goal and one assist and Tony Spidalieri, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Leamington also got a goal from David Dalby as well. More assists for Leamington came via Kyle Shaw, Cole Chevalier, and Joe Manchurek, who each chipped in one. The Flyers registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Nick Beaune, Amante, Kyle Bowman, and Eric Leardi were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Dalen Kuchmey made 31 saves for the Rockets on 36 shots. For Strathroy, Kurtis Sander, Luke Jackson, Tony Belony, and Boyer were ejected from the contest.
