Behind two goals and one assist from Eric Palazzolo and one goal and two assists from Brennan Feasey, the Chatham Maroons downed the St. Thomas Stars 7-4. Palazzolo scored the first of his two goals at 3:20 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Thomas. Michael Verboom picked up the assist. Palazzolo's next tally made the score 3-3 with 9:02 left in the second period. Chatham earned a power play opportunity when Luc Knight was put in the box for slashing. Morris Branden assisted on the tally. Feasey scored 13:32 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Chatham. Blake Blondeel picked up the assist.The Maroons kept St. Thomas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Donald Edwards made 33 saves on 40 shots. Chatham surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Maroons have scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Chatham cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on three chances. Chatham also got points from Branden, who also had one goal and one assist, Verboom, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Blondeel, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Feasey, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Chatham also got a goal from Sean Myers as well. More assists for Chatham came via Steven Szekesy, Brayden Hopkins, Alexander Morgan, and Steven Beenackers, who each chipped in one. The Maroons were unable to stop the Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Thomas eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. The defensemen of the Stars were also effective in Chatham's zone, and came away with two goals. St. Thomas was helped by Braden Hellems, who finished with two goals. Hellems scored the first of his two goals at 12 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Reid Oliver assisted on the tally. Hellems' next tally made the score 2-0 St. Thomas with 2:09 left in the first period. Colin Mooney picked up the assist. St. Thomas additionally got points from Martin Kudla, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Oliver, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Scott Mitchell, who had two and Ian MacDonald and Mike Iacocca, who contributed one a piece. Scott Tricker rejected 43 shots on goal for the Maroons. Chatham incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Stars incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
