Waterloo outlasts Kitchener, 5-3Kinsmen Arena Tue, Feb 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Waterloo Siskins escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Kitchener Dutchmen. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Keigan Goetz's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Waterloo was led by Jacob Bonin, who racked up one goal and one assist. Bonin scored 16:16 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Waterloo. Danny Hanlon picked up the assist. The Siskins' offense rang up 43 shots on Kitchener's net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Waterloo additionally got points from Eric Cimino, who also had one goal and one assist and Hanlon, who also registered one goal and one assist. Matthew Mah also scored for Waterloo. More assists for Waterloo came via Christian Mroczkowski, who had one and Brandon Jones and Jimmy Soper, who each chipped in two. Waterloo was unable to stop the Dutchmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Kitchener eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Dutchmen were helped by John Divo, who tallied one goal. Divo scored 13:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Keli Grant provided the assist. Kitchener also got points from Grant, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kitchener also got a goal from Philip Moser as well. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Matt Guild, who had two and Jordan Delaurier, Ryo Kobayashi, and Tyler Hoffman, who contributed one each. Darren Huck made 29 saves for the Siskins on 32 shots. Waterloo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Marc Williams rejected 38 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. For Kitchener, Ty Learn was ejected from the game.
