Niagara Falls uses big games from Berkel and Christou to down Fort Erie, 8-5

Behind one goal and three assists from Drew Berkel and two goals and one assist from Michael Christou, the Niagara Falls Canucks downed the Fort Erie Meteors 8-5.

Berkel scored on the power play 12:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls had gotten the advantage when Fort Erie's Carson Johnstone was sent off for tripping. Mitch McIntosh picked up the assist. Christou scored the first of his two goals at 3:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara Falls. Cam Stewart assisted on the tally. Christou's next tally made the score 7-5 Niagara Falls with 1:37 left in the third period. Stewart picked up the assist.

The Canucks' offense rang up 61 shots on the Meteors' net. Niagara Falls' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Canucks average 4.6 goals per contest. Niagara Falls' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Fort Erie's power play unit.

Niagara Falls additionally got points from Cole Vinnai, who also grabbed three goals and one assist and Christou, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Niagara Falls also got a goal from Marcus Michalski as well. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Darren Young, who had two and Johnny Curran, Garrett Gallardi, and Cole Langan, who each chipped in one.

The Meteors kept the Canucks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Johnson made 43 saves on 48 shots. Fort Erie got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

The Meteors were helped by Mike Boles, who racked up two goals and one assist. Boles scored the first of his two goals at 2:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Niagara Falls. Kyle Davis assisted on the tally. Boles' next tally made the score 5-3 Niagara Falls with 18:34 left in the third period. Braeden Kavaravtzis picked up the assist. Fort Erie also got points from Kavaravtzis, who also had one goal and two assists. Dallas Ingram also scored for Fort Erie. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Nik Passero, who had two and Mac Passero, Jack Webb APM, Mitchell Webb APM, and Kyle Marino, who contributed one a piece.

Niagara Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wyatt Pickrell made 53 saves for Fort Erie on 60 shots. The Meteors incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Fort Erie, Jonathan England was ejected from the game.
