Dima Lavrenov netted a hat trick to lead the Port Colborne Pirates over the Fort Erie Meteors, 5-2.

Lavrenov notched his first tally 13:55 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:45 into the second and at 17:49 into the second.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:04 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Port Colborne was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and three majors for 51 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game the Pirates had been spending in the box. Port Colborne's offense rang up 38 shots on Fort Erie's net. The Pirates had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 12 chances.

Port Colborne also got points from Bryan Komasara, who also racked up two goals and one assist. More assists for Port Colborne came via Zack Deconilys, who had three, Thomas Sestini and Joe Dagostino, who each chipped in one, and Dayne Phillips and Charlie Izaguirre, who contributed two a piece.

The Meteors forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and three majors for 57 minutes in penalty time. Fort Erie surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Meteors were helped by Nik Passero, who tallied one goal and one assist. Passero scored on the power play 18:41 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fort Erie. A high sticking penalty on Deconilys had put Fort Erie on the power play. Dallas Ingram picked up the assist. Fort Erie additionally got points from Braeden Kavaravtzis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Jesse Pereira, who had one.

Port Colborne's Morgan Hudson stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. For the Pirates, Blaine Bechard, Nathan Judd Warren, and Lavrenov were ejected from the contest. Connor Visca made 33 saves for the Meteors on 38 shots. Fort Erie registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Team's Josh Micallef, Cameron Fairgrieve, and Kyle Marino were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
