Welland rips Buffalo, 5-2

The Buffalo Jr. Blades had trouble finding ways to stop the Welland Jr. Canadians, which beat Jr. Blades, 5-2.

Welland pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 37 penalty minutes.

The Jr. Canadians stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Welland forced the Jr. Blades goalie Ian Shorthouse to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

The Jr. Canadians were helped by Ryan Migliaccio, who tallied one goal and one assist. Migliaccio scored 16:20 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Welland. Brooker Muir assisted on the tally. Welland additionally got points from Muir, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Welland also had goals scored by Adam Barron, who had one and Josh Gervais, who had two. More assists for Welland came via CJ Stellato, who had two and Matt Gillard, Chris Brown, Chris Langdon, and Braden Curry, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities.

The Jr. Blades were helped by Kennedy Monaco, who grabbed one goal. Monaco scored 4:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Welland. Ryan Stayner provided the assist. Buffalo also got points from Seth Hamilton, who also racked up one goal and one assist.

Chris McDougall rejected 28 shots on goal for Welland. The Jr. Canadians registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Welland ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Migliaccio was ejected from the game. Shorthouse recorded 30 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Team's Brendan Kaplewicz* and Domenic Gruttadauria were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
