Bailey's big game bests Niagara Falls in 5-2 St. Catharines win

Jordan Bailey was all over the ice for the St. Catharines Falcons, as he tallied two goals and two assists in St. Catharines' 5-2 win over the Niagara Falls Canucks.

Bailey's tallies came on the power play at 17:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines and 19:29 into the third to make the score 5-2 St. Catharines.

The Falcons kept Niagara Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Johnson made 32 saves on 37 shots.

St. Catharines also got points from Spencer DeWolfe, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Aaron Taylor also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Julian Luciani, who had two and Greg Jambrosich and Jesse Miller, who each chipped in one.

The Canucks forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Niagara Falls surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. The Canucks were held below their usual level of production. Niagara Falls puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. St. Catharines was unable to stop the Canucks from sending pucks towards the net, and Niagara Falls eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Canucks were helped by Drew Berkel, who had two goals. Berkel scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:18 into the third period to make the score 4-1 St. Catharines. Niagara Falls had gotten the advantage when the Falcons' Ed Creighton was sent off for roughing. Marcus Michalski provided the assist. Berkel's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 St. Catharines with 52 seconds left in the third period. Darren Young assisted on the tally. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Cole Vinnai, who had one.

Stormer Santana recorded 32 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. For St. Catharines, Riley Dunda was ejected from the game. The Canucks registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Billy Saxton and Kyle Robinson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
