Ratcliffe lifts London over St. Marys, 6-2

The London Nationals relied on the scoring touch of Keaton Ratcliffe, who netted two goals, to beat the St. Marys Lincolns, 6-2.

Ratcliffe scored at 16:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 London and again while 17:53 into the third to make the score 6-2 London.

In the losing effort, St. Marys was led by Owen MacDonald, who grabbed two goals. MacDonald scored the first of his two goals at 10:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Calvin Penney assisted on the tally. MacDonald's next tally made the score 3-2 London with 17:52 left in the third period. Penney picked up the assist.

London forced the Lincolns' netminders to work without much rest, getting 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Jacob Theut made 19 stops and Craig Wood made 12. The Nationals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Marys to score on any of its three power plays.

London also got points from Shawn Crowley, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Derek Todosichuk, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ryan Tuffin also scored for London. Other players who recorded assists for London were Blake Thomas, who had three and Ryan Wells, Tyler Bryden, Jeff Bauer, and Robert MacFarlane, who each chipped in one.

More assists for St. Marys came via David Sproat, who had two.

London's Taylor Edwards stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Nationals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Lincolns incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
