Thorold downs Buffalo, 7-3

The Buffalo Jr. Blades lost to the Thorold Blackhawks, 7-3.

Thorold kept Buffalo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Klein made 30 saves on 37 shots. The Blackhawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Thorold averages 3.8 goals per game. The Blackhawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Thorold was helped by Tanner Pagendam, who finished with one goal. Pagendam scored 4:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Thorold. Kevin Lavoie assisted on the tally. Thorold additionally got points from Tanner Hildbrant, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Adrian Copeland, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Thorold included Mark Arnone, who had two and Myles Falasca and Brendan Cullen, who scored one goal each. In addition, Thorold received assists from Brian Brosnan, who had two, Mackenzie Mac Avoy, who had three, and Brian Fonseca, Chris Goulet, Kevin Millejours, Vince Dunn, and Dan Chudobiak, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Buffalo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Jr. Blades were helped by Tyler Gallagher, who registered one goal and one assist. Gallagher scored on the power play 19:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Buffalo had gotten the advantage when the Blackhawks' Copeland was sent off for cross checking. Austin Crossley APJ picked up the assist. Buffalo also got points from Crossley APJ, who also had one goal and two assists. Buffalo also got a goal from Tom Hanna as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Pat Dullen APJ, Ryan Stayner, and Domenic Gruttadauria, who contributed one a piece.

Thorold's Brendan Polasek stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Jr. Blades registered three goals on 13 power play opportunities.
