Stratford beats Cambridge 2-0 as Caldwell gains shutout

The Stratford Cullitons used a sparkling performance by Nick Caldwell to take down the Cambridge Winter Hawks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Stratford's 2-0 shutout victory.

The Cullitons were led by Jared Culliton, who had one goal. Culliton scored on the power play 3:10 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Stratford had gotten the advantage when Cambridge's Maxime Lamontagne was sent off for tripping. Shane O Brien provided the assist.

The Cullitons' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cambridge power plays. The Winter Hawks were unable to stop Stratford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cullitons eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Stratford also got a goal from Andrew Barton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Ryan Watson and Jake Pleon, who contributed one a piece.

Cambridge was held below its usual level of production. The Winter Hawks average 3.6 goals per game.

Caldwell rejected 30 shots on goal for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Cambridge's Lucas Machalski stopped 37 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Winter Hawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
