Stoney Creek's Milligan deadly on offense in 7-1 win against Buffalo

Behind a great game by Jake Milligan, who had two goals, the Stoney Creek Warriors defeated the Buffalo Jr. Blades, 7-1.

Milligan's tallies came at 45 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stoney Creek and 17:10 into the third to make the score 7-1 Stoney Creek.

Stoney Creek stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Warriors kept the Jr. Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Shorthouse made 45 saves on 52 shots. Stoney Creek surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Warriors average 3.0 goals per contest.

Stoney Creek also got points from Luke Zupan, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Zach Niemanen, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Matt Schewer, who also had one goal and one assist, and Wesley St. Amand, who also registered one goal and one assist. Parsa Monsef also scored for Stoney Creek. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Blake Luscombe, who had two and Lucas Triemstra, Neil Aird, Dave Eccles, Mitch Graham, and Alexander Zaccaria, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

The Jr. Blades were led by Ryan Stayner, who scored the team's only goal. Stayner scored 37 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Pat Dullen APJ picked up the assist.

Blake Richard rejected 14 shots on goal for Stoney Creek. The Warriors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Stoney Creek, Ryan Lewis was ejected from the game. Buffalo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
