Listowel falls to Guelph in overtime, 6-5 (OT)Sleeman Centre Sat, Jan 12, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Guelph Hurricanes pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Listowel Cyclones on a clutch goal by Michael Courvoisier. Guelph was led by Courvoisier, who had one goal and one assist. Courvoisier scored 3:41 into overtime to make the score 6-5 Guelph. Sebastian Stangherlin provided the assist. In the losing effort, Listowel was sparked by Jesse Parker, who racked up two goals and one assist. Parker scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Listowel. The Cyclones had gotten the advantage when the Hurricanes' Zach McFadden was sent off for slashing. Jacob Robitaille assisted on the tally. Parker's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Listowel with 11:25 left in the second period. Sam Feagan provided the assist. Guelph's offense rang up 38 shots on Listowel's net. The Hurricanes' goal total was higher than their season average. Guelph has scored at the pace of 2.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Hurricanes were also effective in the Cyclones' zone, and came away with two goals. Listowel kept Guelph's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason DaSilva made 38 saves on 43 shots. Listowel additionally got points from Robitaille, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Colten Pickett also scored for Listowel. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Tyler Crawford, who had three and Derek Dallman, Dylan Sayles, and Patrick Bell, who contributed one a piece. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Daniel Dekoning rejected 32 shots on goal for the Cyclones. Listowel incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
